Ian Pearson Interview: Futurism, Professions & AI 2025

Camera · Interview

Futurologist Ian Pearson explains in an interview on the occasion of Tweakfest 09 in Zurich which professions and skills will be in demand in future. http://www.tagesanzeiger.ch/leben/gesellschaft/Im-Jahr-2025-werden-Sie-durch-ein-intelligentes-Joghurt-ersetzt/story/19619277 Intelligent bacteria, remote-controlled make-up or eternal life for everyone under 35: Ian Pearson is one of the most radical futurologists of our time. What may sound like science fiction to some will, according to Pearson, be reality in the near future (see picture gallery). The visionary is convinced that as early as 2050 we will be able to share our consciousness with other people and even with animals and plants. 'This poses humanity's biggest question yet,' says Pearson in the interview. 'We will overcome diseases or global warming with the help of technological developments. The fundamental question will no longer be how we can solve something, but what we should make of the world. What should the humanity of the future look like?' Progress versus individuality That human identity is also at stake here is the logical consequence according to Pearson: 'We cannot have both. As soon as we share our consciousness for the benefit of this new age, we will no longer exist as individuals in the way we are used to today.'
