Bruno Stanek talks about the moon landing

It is 21 July 1969, 3:56 am Swiss time. US astronaut Neil Armstrong takes his first steps on the moon, and Bruno Stanek becomes a TV star overnight. What Hans A. Traber was to the bird world, Bruno Stanek was to space. He explained the moon and the journey there to Switzerland. His overt enthusiasm for US space flight and the space agency drew numerous critics during the turbulent times of the late sixties. Stanek remains convinced today that the moon flight was more than just a propaganda stunt by the Americans and provided humanity with vital insights. Bruno L. Stanek was born in Rorschach on 9 November 1943. After studying mathematics at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH), graduating with a doctorate in 1971, Stanek began working as a freelance mathematician and writer. He became best known as a scientific expert on space flight after commenting on the broadcast of the 1969 moon landing on Swiss television. Following numerous appearances on live broadcasts covering major space events, he was given his own series in 1975 and 1976 titled «Neues aus dem Weltraum». (Created: 20.07.2009, 10:10 am)
